Prerequisite: Biology (B or better) or BSCS (C or better)

Suggested Co-current: Advanced Biology

Health Careers is designed to expose students to the medical field and includes areas in nursing, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory therapy, dental assisting, dietary, operating room, and other related areas. This course includes units on anatomy and physiology, human growth, and development, infection control, legal responsibilities, medical terminology, job safety, employability skills, and many other units related to the health care industry. A clinical component will be included to provide practical experience in many health care areas.

Year 2: 12 credits

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Health Careers 1

Suggested Co-current: Adv. Biology
(if not taken year 1)

This course is a continuation of Health Careers I. Health Careers II focuses on clinical skills. Students will participate in two certificate training programs: Licensed Nursing Assistant and First Responder. Clinical Internships will be offered during the second semester. The internships will correspond with student’s area of interest.

Project: Community Service, Clinical Rotation, Completion of Career Portfolio

Embedded Credit: Program Completer shall receive embedded academic science credits that can be used to satisfy graduation requirements.

Industrial Recognized Credentials: LNA, CPR/First Aid, First Responder
