Internet Technology

Year 1: 12 credits
Prerequisite: Algebra 1
This program forms the groundwork for the increasing number of Internet Related Careers ranging from Computer Programmer (covering applications, web and game programming), Game Designer, Web Designer, Graphic Designer (for web based graphics, print media and game graphics) and Database Designer. Internet programming (using JavaScript and PHP) and E-Commerce are also covered. The first year of the program includes mastery of today's basic tools such as Microsoft Office and Photoshop. Programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, PHP will be covered as well as multimedia tools such as Flash, Photoshop and more.

Mastery of today's basic tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access. Learn Photoshop, Internet Safety, Computer History, Introduction to Hardware and Networking.

Internet Tech
Create websites using PHP and MySQL (dynamic database driven websites). Learn about Linux (operating system), Apache (web server) and MySQL (database design and server). Learn about eCommerce and apply your skill to real, live web sites.

Web Design
Learn how to create incredible web pages using HTML. Use JavaScript to create dynamic web pages and integrate forms and tables into your designs. Create graphics and content for your web pages using the latest industry tools.

Digital Graphic Arts
Become a master of Photoshop while learning about the principles and elements of graphic design. Create two dimensional and three dimension images, became an expert at digital photography. Learn how to animate characters and sprites, learn Flash and other powerful programs.

Introduction to Programming and Computer Game Design
Learn Java, the language of the Internet. Create basic programs at first, then more advanced and exciting programs such as a computer game. Use GameMaker to design and create your own role playing game or arcade type video game. Design the graphics, the objective and then complete the project!

Computer Science and Computer Game Programming (optional AP Computer Science track)
Use Java to create your own computer game that can run on any computer. Create any type of game, such as a social game, puzzle game, role playing game or arcade game, all while furthering your knowledge of computer programming. Further study will be in the area of client/server software development, creating programs such as a client/server chat system.
Advance Placement Computer Science (APCS)
Students can optionally sign up for AP (weighted) credit in this course and take the AP Computer Science test. Sign up must take place no later than 2 weeks after the course starts. Students on an APCS track will complete a similar, but more intensive course of study on Computer Science. The AP Computer Science test is given at the A and AB level, with A being the less intensive of the two.

Year 2: 12 credits
Prerequisite: Internet Technology level 1
This program expands on the Internet Technology Year 1 topics, especially in the area of Internet Programming and Multimedia; Web Server configuration and maintenance; and Computer Science. Students can opt-in to take the Computer Programming course at the AP level and receive a weighted (5.0 for an A) grade and take the AP Computer Science test at the end of the year for college credit.
Strands are: Digital Graphic Arts (embedded art credit), Internet Technology, and Computer Science (optional AP Level Course)
